Bio

Bert Keirsbilck (°1980) is a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law and Criminology of KU Leuven. He lectures Commercial law, EU Law and European Economic Law in Brussels, Leuven and Kortrijk. He is a co-director of Consumer Competition Market (CCM). Bert is a co-author of 'Commercial Practices and Consumer Contracts' (in Dutch) and a co-editor of the CCM series. He is a member of the editorial board of DAOR, DCCR and TEP and serves as a member of the Faculty’s doctoral and culture committees (2020-2024). Recent research focuses on sustainable production and consumption, circular economy and servitisation.

Bert studied law (lic.iur. 2003) and philosophy (lic.phil. 2004) at KU Leuven. In February 2010, he defended his PhD thesis on the interaction between unfair trading law and antitrust law (The New European Law of Unfair Commercial Practices and Competition Law, Oxford, Hart Publishing, 2011, lxiv + 702 p.). Previous positions include: postdoc at the Catholic University of Brussels (2010-2011); Assistant Professor at KU Leuven (2011-16), visiting fellow at LSE (2013) and Stellenbosch University (2015); guest lecturer at the China EU School of Law (2011, 2014); Of Counsel at the Brussels office of Eubelius (2015-2017); Associate Professor (2016-2021); Brussels Campus Dean (2016-2020).
